Tiny DECK CONCERTS
Inspired by NPR Tiny Desk. Scaled Like Live Aid.
NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series proved something important: the most powerful live music experiences are intimate ones. Stripped-down performances in small spaces feel more real, more honest, and more shareable than arena shows. CHILD AID applies that same instinct to backyards across America — real homes, real neighborhoods, real communities — and pairs it with a national movement-level mission.
What is a tiny deck performance?
A 3–5 song acoustic or semi-acoustic set performed outdoors — in a real residential backyard, community garden, school courtyard, or neighborhood green space.
Produced with professional quality but intimate scale: 20–75 people in the live audience, string lights, lawn chairs, maybe a dog.
Each performance includes a 60–90 second 'Eyes Up Moment' — an unscripted message from the artist to young people about screens, outdoor life, and their own relationship with nature and mental health.
Filmed beautifully and distributed on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Spotify.
Paired with a #TouchGrass Challenge — the artist dares their audience to spend 20 minutes outside and post it.
Every location is connected to CHILD AID’s backyard nomination program, sponsored by Scotts Miracle-Gro and retail partners.
This is the most important 90 seconds in every Tiny Deck video. After 2–3 songs, the artist puts down their instrument, looks at the camera, and speaks directly to young people. No teleprompter. No script approved by a brand team. Just an artist who has thought about this, speaking from their own experience.
